Christina Martin comes to Amherst

AMHERST - Music Nova Scotia Female Artist of the Year Christina Martin will be performing Friday, at the Tantramar Theatre in Amherst.

George Douglas from Tantramar Theatre met Martin during music week, hosted each year by Music Nova Scotia, when she performed.

"I saw her play and she was good," Douglas said.

Martin will perform songs solo and with a band; there will be two backup musicians.

"I think there's a lot of energy behind the tunes." Martin said.

There will also be a story telling element to her music.

"I try to get the audience engaged."

Kelly Slone from Halifax will be performing as Martin's opening act.

"She's got a beautiful voice," Martin said. "We're looking forward to it."

Martin's performance is thanks to the Bringin' it Home program by Music Nova Scotia, which encourages Nova Scotia artists to travel around Nova Scotia performing shows.

"Of course, I want to play anywhere," Martin said.

The Bringin' it Home program also helps with funding making it easier for the promoter to put on a good show, Martin added.

The Christina Martin show will be held at 8 p.m. on 98 Victoria St. Tickets are priced at $15.
