SACKVILLE - Sackville has charted the course for a vibrant year-long celebration of arts, culture and heritage in the community.
Designed to appeal to a wide range of audiences, the town's Cultural Capital of Canada program includes a bit of everything - from an extensive line-up of concerts to a one-of-a-kind international environmental sculpture project, a new arts wall of fame, innovative theatrical productions, and heritage events celebrating Sackville's incredible history.
"We have an enormous amount of events and activities planned for the year," said Warren Maddox, co-ordinator for Sackville's Cultural Capitals project. "There is going to be something for everyone, whether you are a resident of Sackville or a resident of New Brunswick, P.E.I. or Nova Scotia. The programming is extensive."
Maddox announced the wide-ranging line-up for the year during Sackville's heritage week celebrations on Saturday, noting the focus will be to not only attract well-known national and international artists in '08 but to also recognize the incredible talent offered by local and regional performers.
Maddox has lined up several big-name musical acts, including Canadian singer/songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk, well-known for her chart-toppers Leaving on a Jet Plane and Surrounded.
