SPRINGHILL: Proving they're the greatest band east of Montreal Springhill rockers Nicknameless took to the BoDog Battle of the Bands semi-finals stage in the Quebec city this weekend and conquered their Atlantic brethren.
The four-piece band, made up of Springhill musicians Chris Brown, Justin Adams and brother Mike and Joe King, are now on their way to the finals in Toronto on March 8 and represent the province of Nova Scotia along side Pictou rockers Beyond Ash in their ongoing bid to represent the nation in the international BoDog Battle of the Bands, a reality-based television show that will pit the finalists from the United States, Canada, Germany, Scandinavia and the United Kingdom against one another for a $1 million recording contract with BoDog.
At least 14 bands from the across Canada will stand on the Toronto main stage on March 8, before the contest moves on to its reality television format.
Nicknameless' win comes after a whirlwind weekend that saw the four musicians wrapping up East Coast Music Awards celebrations in Fredericton after winning a spot on the showcase stage where the band played to industry insiders before jumping back into their van and making the run to Montreal.
If chosen to represent the nation the King brothers, Brown and Adams will find themselves weighed in front of world renown judges. Last year saw Canadian rocker Bif Naked sit next to legendary punk icon Johnny Lynds - a.k.a. Johnny Rotten - of the Sex Pistols before declaring American hard rockers Fall from Grace as last year's winner.
