Colchester Highland Dance Association fared well at the fourth annual BATD Festival on May 4 to 5 in Halifax. Colchester Highland Dance Association fared well at the fourth annual BATD Festival on May 4 to 5 in Halifax. The following are results of the two-day competition:

Primary dance

Holly Grace - fifth, Pas de Basques; third, Pas de Basques and high cuts; third, Highland Fling; third, Sword Dance.

Grace was a first-time competitor.

In Beginner 11 & under

Clea MacIsaac – fourth, Seann Triubhas; second, Scottish Lilt; second, Flora.

Novice all ages

Kariya Hiltz – first, Highland Fling; first, Seann Triubhas; third, Scottish Lilt; first, Flora; High Aggregate; most outstanding novice.

Intermediate all ages

Amelia Parker – first, Sailors Hornpipe; third, Scottish Lilt; first, Highland Fling; second, Seann Triubhas; first, Highland Laddie; High Aggregate; most outstanding intermediate.

Premier 11 & under

Abigael Brownell – first, Sword Dance; second, Seann Triubhas; fourth, Highland Laddie; second, Sailors Hornpipe; Most Promising Scholarship. 

Premier 14 & under

Sarah Fougere –  first, Highland Fling; second, Seann Triubhas; fourth, Highland Laddie;  first, Earl of Errol; third, Sailors Hornpipe.

Lindsey Wilson – fifth, Highland Fling; third, Sword Dance; fourth, Seann Triubhas; fifth, Highland Laddie; fifth, Earl of Errol.

Premier 15 & over

Allyson Parker – third, Seann Triubhas;  third, Highland Laddie; third, Earl of Errol; second, even Sailors Hornpipe.

Sarah MacDonald – third, Highland Fling; third, Sword Dance; second, Highland Laddie; second, Earl of Errol; second, even Sailors Hornpipe; Most Outstanding Premier trophy.

Kariya Hiltz, Sarah MacDonald and Ameila Parker all received an invitation to perform at the Rosebowl Sunday evening.

Colchester Highland Dance Association will be holding its annual Ceilidh on June 14 at 6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 759 Prince St.,Truro.
