HALIFAX - The public is invited to a special celebration at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic on Tuesday to celebrate the arrival in Halifax of a replica of a 1,000-year-old Viking ship.
The reception gets underway at 7 p.m. with guest speakers Stephen Morck, president of the Danish Canadian Historical Society and Jakob Henningsen, representing the Danish Embassy.
Traditional Danish food and drinks will be served at the reception that is being hosted by the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic and the Scandinavian Society of Nova Scotia.
The replica, named the Freydis Joanna, was built at the Viking Ship Museum in Denmark and launched last year.
It will eventually be displayed at the Danish Canadian National Museum and Gardens in Alberta.
