AMHERST - Two new attractive brochures will soon be in circulation promoting downtown Amherst.
Visitors will have access to a dining guide featuring information on eight eating establishments in the downtown core along with a map indicating their locations.
A second brochure offers up information on the six tree sculptures recently added to the downtown landscape along with a map highlighting the location of each.
The brochures are part of this summer's marketing campaign initiated by the Downtown Amherst Revitalization Society in co-operation with the Cumberland Regional Economic Development Association.
DARS chair Beth Munroe says the new publications are part of the ongoing effort to enhance the promotion and marketing of Amherst and better inform visitors of the many things we have to offer.
"The overall goal of DARS is downtown beautification and building a sense of pride in the history and culture of our community," she added.
The dining guide outlines the variety of dining experiences available to the public in the downtown from the business luncheon to the candlelight dinner and everything in between. There are a variety of menu choices from Canadian to authentic German cuisine.
The tree sculptures brochure provides illustrations of the artistic works of Bruce Hebert of River Hebert, who completed the majority of the works, and Albert F. Deveau from northern New Brunswick.
The sculptures promote Amherst's Victorian theme, its Acadian heritage, the legendary North Nova Scotia Highlanders Second World War regiment, the Four Fathers of Confederation from the Amherst area, and the Barker family, the founders of the Two Barker's department store.
