TORONTO - Elton John was in Toronto Tuesday to perform with Billy Joel at the Air Canada Centre and tout his new animated film.
John appeared with Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty in the afternoon at Starz Animation Toronto.
The company specializes in high-end computer-animated films and is working on ''Gnomeo and Juliet'' - a spoof of ''Romeo and Juliet.''
John and his Toronto-born partner, David Furnish, have been developing the musical comedy through their film company, Rocket Pictures.
McGuinty announced that the Ontario government is giving $23 million to Starz Animation to expand the studio.
The voice of Gnomeo will reportedly be provided by ''Atonement'''s James McAvoy, while Emily Blunt of ''The Devil Wears Prada'' will do Juliet.
