Have you heard?

I have received a lot of positive feedback from my wife’s writings: “Trista’s Treasures.”  Here is the latest, also available online at www.amherstwesleyan.com.

“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.  Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” –Isaiah 40:28-30

I like this verse! Have you heard?  Have you heard that He is the everlasting God, the Creator of EVERYTHING?  Have you heard that He does not get weary, worn-out or tired?  Did you know that He will give YOU strength?  Did you know that you CAN run and not grow weary or faint, if you put your hope in Him?  How awesome is that???  YOU can soar on His wings like an eagle!  YOU are upheld, cared for and in the hands of Almighty God and He loves you with a greater love than any other!

I do realize that in this life, sometimes the above can seem like we know this in our minds but do not always seem to feel it in our hearts.  Or for some of us, I think we can feel it in our heart, but we cannot wrap our minds around the thought of such love.  It is a love like no other.  It is unfailing, unfathomable, honest, sincere, trustworthy, dependable, consistent, never-ending, joyful, peaceful, patient and kind. God’s love does not hold grudges, it doesn’t count your wrongs but it simply forgives.  God’s love is for YOU.  He loves YOU.  That’s a fact!  Ephesians 2:4-5: “But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)

I have to say I have my days when my head knows of God’s love, but my heart still questions it.  It is difficult, sometimes, to not to base our faith on feelings or circumstances.

Feelings are strong and persuasive, but they are not facts.  On the days when we question, I think it is important to get into The Word of God and get the facts from The Source!  It is very easy to get caught up in our own minds, our thoughts.  I don’t know about you but I can play the role of superwoman, diagnose my ailments and plan a year of events all in the ½ hour before I fall asleep! J  It’s true!  Hardly any of it is fact, but rather things that may happen or come up. I have done it.  Have you?  Your mind just takes over and you run with all kinds of distractions that nine times out of ten will never, ever even happen.  But you feel the need to “plan ahead” anyway, just in case.

This is where the verse comes to mind:  Matthew 6:34 “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Sometimes we have to make up our mind to change our thought pattern.  It’s a conscious choice/effort.  We have to bind up those negative feelings and thoughts and fill ourselves with the truth.  That truth is the Word of God.  I have said it before, and you may hear it again, but get those verses on your fridge, in your phone, on your screensaver, taped to a bathroom mirror or wherever you will see it often.  Keep filling your mind with God’s Word, because those are the facts.

So, how about if just for today, we enjoy this day?  Just for today, let’s soar on His wings like eagles and enjoy the wind in our face and soak in the love of the Son that carries us through each day.  His is a love like no other.  Just for today, be thankful and celebrate the good things because tomorrow will come with its own set of worries.  When tomorrow comes, remember this phrase, “Just for today”….and the next day remember “Just for today….” And before you know it, you will have climbed that mountain, you will have learned those truths, and you will know and feel the Love of God.  He loves YOU.  That IS a FACT!
