The snow is just about gone, spring is finally here and it is time for the Port Elgin Rotary's 11th annual Send a Kid to Camp Walkathon
This year’s fundraiser will be held on Saturday, May 10, leaving the Baie Verte Hall at 10 a.m. At the end of the walk, participants will be treated to a hot luncheon at the hall consisting of homemade chili, soup, rolls, pies and more.
All of the money raised will be used to send kids to camp, both to Rotary Camp Tidnish and Camp Ta-Wa-Si. It is hoped that many members of the community will support this event, either by walking or sponsoring a walker.
Last year, local Rotarians were able to help nine young children to attend these two camps, and this year they are asking for the public’s help in reaching their goal of sending just as many to camp this year.
