Mahoney, the Medicine Hat duo of Trent Roset and Ryan Massini, will be pumping up the crowd at the Jan. 11 Swift Current Bronco game with live music.
Swift Current Bronco fans will enjoy some high energy entertainment in the stands during Saturday's Western Hockey League.
Mahoney, made up of Trent Roset and Ryan Massini from Medicine Hat, will be entertaining the crowd at the Jan. 11 Bronco game against the visiting Red Deer Rebels. They will be playing prior to the game, during the first period stoppages in play, and concluding their live music with a five minute set during the first intermission.
"It brings an energy into the rink that you wouldn't get otherwise from canned music," Roset said of Mahoney's live musical addition to the game day atmosphere.
"We try to do your traditional hockey songs that you hear at the games. Stuff that'll pump people up - some Metallica and AC/DC. And we'll do some other fun ones like the Stompin Tom Hockey Song," Roset said. "A lot of time we try and just do our versions of those hockey songs to pump everybody up. And then we'll throw in a couple of little fun ones too, some goofy, silly, kitschy songs to kind of keep everyone's ear to the music."
Mahoney has previously performed live during WHL games in Lethbridge and Medicine Hat in 2013, and they will be in four arenas over the coming weeks to help entertain fans in the stands.
"The entire crowd definitely has more of an energy to it we find," he said. "People definitely get more interactive. They'll sing along to the songs…and on top of it we find that people show up earlier. We get a bunch of people there right at the beginning of the game to hang out for the warm-ups and everything."
Mahoney has previously played a handful of concert dates in Swift Current at the Living Sky Casino and Lucky Charlie's.
Mahoney will be again playing at Lucky Charlie's for an after party starting at 9:30 p.m. following the Bronco game.
