New York City has the ball drop. New Glasgow has Ghostrider.

Ghostrider and the Allied Horns will be performing New Years Eve at the Glasgow Square Theatre.

This New Year’s Eve, Paul Morse and his band mates will be returning to Glasgow Square for the fourth annual New Year’s Eve show.

The event usually sells out and Morse said they’re looking forward to seeing a lot of their regular supporters out.

Morse is from New Glasgow and the rest of his band members are from Northern Nova Scotia.

While they’ve been known to wander among genres from everything from Blues to Rock, for New Years they like to keep things up-tempo, he said and will be playing rock, R&B and Swing songs that fit the bill.

The party happens from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Tuesday at the Square. Tickets available at H & R Music, Glasgow Square Theatre and online at ticketpro.ca. To attend you must be age 19 and over.

While Morse, said he enjoys performing live at shows like this the most, he’s been spending a fair bit of time in studio the last while finalizing his latest album, which will be released this spring. It’s called Ghostrider Blues Band and as the name says, will include a repertoire of blues songs.

“It’s a little different,” Morse said. “My first album was all my own songs. The new album is all covers of blues bands.”

The process of making a good album is tedious, he said. He’s producing the recording himself and wants to make sure it’s perfect. Some people believe you can make a recording in a short time, but he said for it to be quality you have to put the time in.

He’s hoping for a warm reception for the new release, but isn’t looking for widespread fame or fortune.

“We do this for a hobby really,” he said. “We’re a little bit older. It’s not like we’re trying to conquer the world.”
