NEW GLASGOW – Rock fans of all ages will get a chance to hear Ashley George on Saturday.
The Pictou singer-songwriter will be taking over the Green Room at Glasgow Square with music from several of his albums, including his newest and unreleased one.
“The show is an all ages event, so I’m expecting lots of families and people of all ages. I don't get to do enough of these types of shows.”
His latest set of recordings is set to come on the market in spring or summer of 2014.
He worked on it with Tim Baker, former drummer for Matt Mays, at Baker’s studio in Halifax called The Shed.
He says it’s a mix of fast rock tunes as well as some slower solo acoustic pieces.
“I'm working with all new musicians, which is always a fresh sound and a great way to learn from others.”
George is no stranger to the music scene in Pictou County. He has been fronting the rock band Beyond Ash since its inception in 2000.
They’ll be playing a show at the Highlander in Pictou on Boxing Day.
He also has several shows booked with his other band, Machete.
“My punk band will be going through a name change in 2014 and will be starting fresh with a new album as well.”
Between his two bands and his solo projects, George has plenty going on.
On top of that, his company, Black Belt Machete, is doing well selling skateboards and clothing, he says.
Pictou’s Niki Veniot will start the show at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at Glasgow Square’s box office, by phone, online at www.ticketpro.ca or a Ticketpro outlet. Children are admitted for free.
Doors open at 7 p.m.
