TRURO – An event early next month is set to simulate dining as a blind person.

Dining in the Dark, which runs from 6 to 9 p.m. on Nov. 7, will support the CNIB and its programs and services. The organization helps Nova Scotians who are blind or partially sighted gain the confidence, skills and opportunities to fully participate in life.

The event is $50 per person, and includes a three-course meal at the Best Western Plus Glengarry. Blindfolds will be available and are optional for use.

Linda Spears, who is organizing the second annual event, said most of the 98 participants last year wore the blindfolds.

“They had a blast,” she said.

Spears is aiming for 150 attendees to this event, and hoping to raise the same amount as last year – approximately $11,000 – through the admission and sponsors.

Tickets are still available for purchase at the Marigold Cultural Centre on Prince Street in Truro, or by contacting Spears.

For more information or to purchase tickets, contact Spears at 897-4541 or scotiagold@yahoo.com, or CNIB at (902) 453-1480, ext 5703, or cheri.cole@cnib.ca.
