TRENTON – Local fans of Faber Drive won’t have to travel to a city with bigger venues to see them perform live this weekend.

The Lost in Paradise Tour with headliners Faber Drive and Victoria Duffield also features Kreesha Turner, Courage My Love and Fighting for Ithaca and will hit the stage at Trenton Middle School Saturday Night.

The tour’s promoter contacted Walter Smith, a local events organizer. Faber Drive had performed in Pictou County in the past and wanted to return with this tour. Smith, a Trenton resident who brings events to the county, didn’t let the opportunity slip away.

“I was contacted by a promoter that I’ve worked with in the past,” Smith said. “Faber Drive had played at the Riverfront (Jubilee) a few years ago and they were looking to add a Pictou County date to their tour.”

Smith secured a venue and now the major label-recording artists are performing in Trenton.

Smith said he wanted to see Faber Drive’s concert be an all-ages event so Pictou County’s youth could enjoy a major pop-band concert close to home.

“Our kids here don’t get a lot of opportunities to see bands like this in Pictou County,” he said. “They usually have to hound their parents to drive them to the city to see them.”

Smith said he was originally planning to hold the event at NSCC’s gymnasium but was told it would be unavailable on that date. Smith then turned to Trenton Middle School to see if they would host the event.

“I have a working relationship with Trenton Middle School,” he said. “It has a very nice stage.”

Smith said while having the concert in Trenton Middle School’s gym poses some problems such as no seating and he would have liked a larger venue, it does allow for an audience of 800.

Smith said he lives in Trenton and think this concert will be good for the town and the school.

He added that he wasn’t sure if there were any tickets left as of Thursday afternoon, but he knew there were some still available at the beginning of the week.

Tickets for the show are $34.50 and are available at all Needs locations in Pictou County and by phone at 1-866-999-8687.

Smith said those attending the concert should remember that parking around the school is limited and encourages people to carpool if possible.

The doors open at 6:30 p.m. with the show starting at 7:30 p.m.

How long do you plan to continue this non-news Story. So typical of the quality of the News Online edition. Just keep feeding us the same old crap. I am certainly not motivated to believe the hard copy edition is much better.
