AMHERST – A volatile mixture of boy-toys, girl-toys and Viagra will hit the stage this weekend when ‘Viagra on the Lake,’ plays on the Scotia Room stage at the Wandlyn Inn Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Amherst.

“This is the second time we’ve staged Viagra on the Lake,” said Amherst Comedy Troupe writer, director and actor, Mark Raddin. “We staged the show five years ago and it went over so well people have been asking us to run it again.”

The ‘adult comedy’ is about an estranged couple that shares a cabin and accidentally shows up at the cabin on the same weekend – the ex-wife brings her boy-toy, while the ex-husband brings his girl-toy. Thrown into the mix is a bottle of Viagra.

“One lady said to me that she couldn’t get her husband to go to a show,” said Kathy Legere, who plays Diana to Raddin’s Peter. “She said, ‘I’m so glad I convinced him to go to this one because he will go to every show from now on.’”

Raddin said the play is hilarious.

“We had people rolling in the aisles,” he said.

The aisles they will be rolling in are at the newly renovated Scotia Room at the Wandlyn Inn.

“It’s a great room,” said Raddin. “They’ve done it all over. It’s in immaculate shape.”

The Amherst Comedy Troupe usually stages two or three shows a year, but with their new home Raddin said they might stage five or six shows a year.

The second couple in Viagra on the Lake, Brenda and Ed, is played by Barb Bowes and Christian Laurette

The play runs this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and is restricted to 18-year’s-old and up.

Doors open at 7 p.m., and showtime is 8 p.m.

For tickets call the Wandlyn Inn at 667-3331.
