Kevin Spacey seeks to portray human side of bankers in financial crisis thriller "Margin Call"

BERLIN - Kevin Spacey wants to introduce the moviegoing world to the human side of Wall Street bankers in his new film, "Margin Call."

The debut from director J.C. Chandor features Spacey as a senior investment bank executive facing his company's imminent ruin on the eve of the 2008 financial crisis. It screened Friday at the Berlin film festival — the first of 16 movies competing for the event's top Golden Bear award.

Spacey says he found it "fascinating to try to humanize ... the kind of person who'd been so dehumanized for so long."

Spacey stars alongside fellow Oscar winner Jeremy Irons, who plays the sinking bank's chief executive; Demi Moore, who appears as its chief risk officer; and British actor Paul Bettany.
