TORONTO — Ron MacLean will finally get the chance to say his piece.

The co-host of CBC-TV’s “Coach’s Corner” with Don Cherry has announced that he will release his memoir, to be published by HarperCollinsCanada.

MacLean will share his favourite stories from his career as a hockey and sports commentator, according to a release.

The book is being co-written by Kirstie McLellan Day, who also co-penned Theoren Fleory’s 2009 memoir, “Playing With Fire.”

MacLean began his career with CBC in the mid-1980s and has since won 10 Gemini Awards for his work.

The Red Deer, Alta., native has hosted Hockey Night in Canada and contributed to CBC’s Olympics coverage.

“My favourite stories come from Cervantes and Shakespeare, the two greatest writers of the past 500 years — Hamlet and Horatio, Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, and now, Ron and Don?” MacLean said in a release.

“After the show, at the hotel, with a few libations under our belts and our long, long conversations, comes the real story. And these are the stories I’ve shared with Kirstie.”
