Parrsboro Band Association introduces a new concert series with Charlie A'Court as its opening act on March 27.
"This is the first time, aside from summer, that such a series has ever been developed for our region and we are finding the challenge of the programming very exciting," chair of the concert series committee Michael Fuller said.
"The concerts will showcase programming for youth and the young at heart, fans of the blues, folk and pop, enthusiasts of the classics and lovers of country and bluegrass," Fuller said.
Programming for the spring showcases will include; performances by Charlie A'Court, blues man extraordinaire (March), The Spinnney Brothers, traditional bluegrass (April) and Rhapsody Quintet, classical musicians from Halifax (May).
A'Court, the opening act for this concert series, has released his first live, solo recording, Live at the Marigold, an intimate look into the heart of this soul troubadour and was recorded at Marigold Culture Centre in Truro. The new release was nominated for best blues artist/group recording, and best male artist recording at the 2009 Music Nova Scotia Awards.
This recording is released exclusively as a digital download keychain, which, the band association will be giving two of these keychains and two copies of his cd Bring on the Storm and several sets of two tickets through on air promotions with CICR 99.1FM.
"Because this is a new experience for the community, we will focus on ensuring that music lovers from our entire region feel welcome and comfortable traveling to Parrsboro to take in some of this great programming," chair of communications Mary McPhee said.
