A new sign huh? Well where do I start with how unnecessary this sign is...
How much did this cost, I'm quite sure that the money could have been used for something better than a sign. Like what you might be thinking to yourself... well like equipment or apparatus for the Fire Department, putting the funds towards quicker snow removal, fixing roads that are like the Olympic moguls in Whistler, put the money into cleaning up downtown to make it more appealing to those people passing thru our town - maybe they will stop.... well you get the jist - oh and by the way did the town not have a sign there already??
    Sign, sign everywhere a sign

The sign is a good idea. It looks nice and it gives those arriving via that entrance to town a sense of welcome and feeling of Ok, this place has a little pride in itself. Too bad the same can't be said for those naysayers ripping it. Gee, they sure are brilliant with their extremely original comments, such as: Duh, how much of my tax money was wasted on this?

No matter where you go, almost every town or city in Nova Scotia & across Canada has a sign welcoming people to the area. It`s about time that we had one put in. It adds to the beauty that the town has really been trying to promote the past several months. Everyone can whine about what the town looks like & how this building should be torn down or that building can`t have all these signs in front of it. The town is taking steps to do what it can to make things right. This sign is just one small step.

The sign looks great. I wonder how much money was spent on this?

Are you people kidding me? You are mad that the Town put a beautiful sign up to welcome people to Amherst? Are you also mad that the town is spending money on lawyers to go after delinquent property owners whose buildings are falling down? I mean I can understand being upset at useless expenses but trying to make this Town a little more welcoming is not a waste of money. I think people like to complain just for the sake of complaining about something.

The timing couldn't be better ... The Finance Minister is coming to town today! What better way to show him that Amherst is struggling than by erecting a brand new solid stone Welcome to Amherst . We should have plated the text in gold too just to prove the point!

At least Mr Steele will feel welcome as he drives into town.

This just means we need more people to attend the Back to Blance session tonight at the Lion's Den to let him know what we really think!

I WONDER IF THEY HAVE THE PROPER PERMITS IN PLACE SIGNAGE IS A BIG ISSUE FOR THEM (THE TOWN ) THE ARTICLE ABOUT WARREN CHAPMAN S BUILDING IS STILL ON MY MIND I DON'T THINK YOU WILL SEE EVERY BUSINESS OWNER DOING THIS BUT THERE ARE FREE STANDING SIGNS IN OTHER PLACES IN TOWN SUCH AS ON S ALBION ST THAT ARE ADVERTISING BUSINESSES THAT ARE NOT EVEN LOCATED THERE NOR IS THERE ANY TYPE OF BUSINESS ON THE PROPERTY THE TOWN 'S MAYOR AND COUNCIL SHOULD BE PROUD OF THE DOUBLE STANDARD LAWS THIS TOWN HAS ALWAYS BEEN ABOUT WHO YOU ARE WARREN YOU MUST NOT BE IN THE OLD BOYS CLUB

Yes It is a nice sign..but It should say Welcome to Amherst Our beautiful little town and as you pass through on your way to Sackville to shop please remember to waive goodbye to all our corner stores as they won't be in business for very much longer thanks to the government raising our taxes over and over again. That would be the perfect sign for that spot.

The sign does look good, when you are coming into town.

It actually made me feel like I was coming into a town, not just a stop off the highway for gas or lunch!

I would like to thank Councillor Rhindress for efforts in the town Beautification process.

I wonder how long it will take until it is spraypainted with grafitti. There's still some profanity that needs to be taken off the industrial park sign that is just up the street from this one.

Nice sign, let's keep it clean and free of the grafiti that is popping up everywhere.
