MONTREAL - Police were looking for one car submerged in the frigid waters near Montreal.
Instead they found two.
Police said they found the vehicle Wednesday of a pair of missing Quebec men near the city's shores - and, surprisingly, their search also turned up a second car that's blocking access to it.
Investigators probing the disappearance of Vincent Lamoureux and Hugo Pereira were initially led to search near the Viau bridge after finding car debris nearby.
Police have not confirmed whether the two missing men are inside the submerged car.
Const. Anie Lemieux said police were bringing in equipment to take the car out of the river that separates the island of Montreal from Laval, Que.
But before they could do that, they needed to remove the other car.
Police have no information on the second vehicle, said Const. Anie Lemieux, but it is getting in the way of retrieving Pereira's black, four-door Acura TL 2007.
"Divers had to retreat because of the danger," Lemieux said.
"There is a lot of current and ice on the water and they've called for a bigger boat to help the work safely on site," Lemieux said.
Provincial police helped find the Acura in the water, with the use of sonar equipment Wednesday morning.
Roommates Lamoureux, 20, and Pereira, 22, share a home in Laval but were last seen in a bar in Montreal's trendy Plateau neighbourhood on Feb. 3.
The two friends - both firefighters-in-training - have not been heard from since that night.
