TOKYO - Toyota says it plans to sell 8.27 million vehicles worldwide this year, up 6 per cent from last year.
The plan announced today shows the world's biggest automaker is optimistic about its growth prospects after being battered by the global slowdown.
Toyota Motor Corp., which makes the Prius hybrid, Lexus luxury model and Camry sedan, sold 7.81 vehicles worldwide in 2009, down 13 per cent from the previous year.
The number includes Toyota's group companies including Daihatsu Motor Co., which makes small models, and truckmaker Hino Motors.
