Promoting the importance of literacy

AMHERST - The local family resource centre and a network for adults to upgrade their education are putting together the final touches to this weekend's Family Literacy Pyjama Party.

The morning's activities including a reading of Where the Wild Things Are, along with Wild Thing puppets, crowns, calendar-making, mailing station, alphabet hopscotch and much more.

Family Literacy Day is celebrated each January and encourages families to read and learn together.

This year's event will be held at the Christ Church Parish Hall on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

All Maggie's Place activities are free of charge and everyone is welcome.

Children will be provided with a healthy snack, and each family will receive a reusable take-home bag with literacy supplies and activities.
