Canadian comic Martin Short joins newest season of legal drama Damages

TORONTO - Comics Martin Short and Lily Tomlin are among the new faces set to appear on the dark legal thriller "Damages."
Short plays against type as in his turn as lawyer Leonard Winstone, the latest adversary to challenge cut-throat litigator Patty Hewes, played by Glenn Close.
In season three, Patty attempts to recover billions of dollars from a massive Wall Street investment fraud but comes up against against the powerful Tobin family, helmed by Tomlin's Marilyn Tobin and Campbell Scott's Joe Tobin.
Winstone is the family's trusted attorney, who may have a hidden agenda of his own.
Last season of "Damages" featured "Saturday Night Live" comic Darrell Hammond as a mysterious hitman known only as The Deacon.
"Damages" returns to Showcase on Jan. 31. New episodes will also be streamed online at showcase.ca.
