Nova Scotia man, 66, dead after snowmobile leaves railway bed, hits tree

SPRINGFIELD, N.S. - Police say a Nova Scotia man is dead after the snowmobile he was driving left an old railway bed and slammed into a large tree.
The 66-year-old victim was alone on the machine when the mishap occurred Thursday morning in Springfield, Annapolis County.
Passing snowmobile riders came across the accident scene and called 911.
Police say the man from Cherryfield, Lunenburg County, was pronounced dead at the scene.
His name has not been released.
Police say an autopsy is scheduled.
