American Airlines says JAL would make $2 billion in revenues from oneworld over 3 years

TOKYO - American Airlines says money-losing Japan Airlines would make $2 billion in revenues over the next three years if it stays in the oneworld alliance.
The American carrier also announced Tuesday it would invest up to $1.4 billion in JAL to assist in its turnaround. Sources familiar with talks between the carriers said American made the offer to JAL last week, an increase over its previous offer for $1.1 billion.
The revenue benefits to JAL outlined by American include $100 million in revenues guaranteed by the U.S. carrier for three years, $200 million in new revenue from deals with British Airways, and $1.5 billion in ongoing revenue.
Struggling JAL is on the brink of a government-led bankruptcy, with competing airline alliances led by American and Delta offering large investments to assist in its turnaround.
