HALIFAX - A strike deadline of Jan. 18 has been set for thousands of workers in hospitals and schools across most of Nova Scotia.
The Canadian Union of Public Employees says the workers will walk off the job unless a contract settlement is reached.
The union says no talks are currently planned for the employees, who work outside the Halifax region.
CUPE says maintaining wage parity with workers in Halifax is the key issue.
About 4,100 of the CUPE members work in hospitals in eight health authorities.
The school support staff number about 3,000.
