CHARLOTTETOWN - Weather conditions are expected to deteriorate rapidly across Prince Edward Island today as powerful westerly winds push in colder air accompanied by snow and blowing snow.
Officials are warning motorists that travel restrictions are likely for the Confederation Bridge, with winds around 80 kilometres an hour and gusts to 100 km/h.
Several centimetres of snow had already fallen across the province with slightly heavier amounts in western areas.
Temperatures could plunge to -10 C by day's end, with occasional flurries and blowing and drifting snow in northern and eastern areas.
Snowfall amounts are forecast to range between four and 10 centimetres.
