TRURO - People parking on the street overnight might wake up to a ticket on the windshield or find their vehicle impounded.
The winter parking ban is now in effect across Nova Scotia. It runs from 1 a.m. to 7 a.m. Dec. 15 to April 1. The ban is in place whether it is snowing or not.
"You could go to bed at 10 o'clock at night and there's no snow and through the night it starts to storm," explained Truro Police Service Chief David MacNeil. "The plows go out and you can't plow the streets because all the cars are parked there." The town's winter parking ban is consistent with what is in place across the province. The fine for parking on the street is $15 and the vehicle owner would be responsible for any bill if the vehicle were towed.
