WHITBY, Ont. - Protesters who have occupied federal Finance Minister Jim Flaherty's riding office in Whitby, Ont., say police have told them to leave by the end of the business day, or be removed forcibly.
The seven demonstrators from the group People for Climate Justice are demanding greater action on climate change.
The group wants a binding climate treaty during negotiations to be held in Copenhagen in December. It also wants Ottawa to commit to reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 2020 to 25 per cent of 1990 levels.
In a statement, the group says Flaherty must push the government for a "just, ambitious, and binding deal in Copenhagen with science-based targets."
Seven people were arrested when the same group held a similar protest last week at the office of Environment Minister Jim Prentice in Calgary.
They were charged with criminal mischief and are due in court Dec. 31.
