HALIFAX - Elementary and high school students in Halifax will have two weeks off in February 2011 because of the Canada Winter Games.
The Nova Scotia government announced today that it will move the spring break to February and add a week off for students and staff to support the Games.
The changes affect students and staff with the Halifax Regional School Board and French schools in the Halifax area.
The government says changing the schedule this way follows the practice of past Canada Winter Games and that the school year will start early and end late to ensure students don't lose class time.
Two schools will be used as venues for the Games, which will rely on volunteer support from more than 1,000 students.
