Bids being received on surplus schools

TRURO - Bids are being invited on two former elementary schools in Colchester County.
The surplus schools are St. Mary's Elementary on King Street in Truro and East Stewiacke Elementary.
Interested bidders will be able to tour the facilities next Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon in East Stewiacke and from 1 to 3 p.m. in Truro.
Sealed tenders will be accepted at the Chignecto-Central Regional School Board until 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 26.
The former institutions were among a number declared surplus following the construction of new elementary schools in Truro and Stewiacke.
The former Willow Street school has been sold by the Town of Truro for approximately $110,000 and is to be turned into residential complexes.
The former Alice Street school is to be demolished, after which the property will be put on the market and the future of the Douglas Street facility is to be determined. The Town of Truro is hoping to convert that building into a recreational facility.
