HALIFAX - Too bad Halifax can't get a bypass for the overpass.
Taxi operators predict that there will be no miracle cure for traffic headaches when the five-lane Fairview overpass, one of the main arteries into peninsular Halifax, is reduced to three lanes on Monday.
Brian Herman, who works at a Halifax-area cab company, says the change is likely to cause congestion in other parts of the city as well.
The Fairview overpass will be under construction for six months.
Preparatory work will begin Monday and construction will be in full swing by midweek.
The south side of the overpass, about 50 years old, is being demolished and rebuilt.
