SAINT JOHN, N.B. - Bad news for New Brunswickers still dealing with damage caused by flooding during post-tropical storm Danny.
The province has decided the damage doesn't meet the criteria of the disaster financial assistance program.
The tropical storm struck the province at the end of August, dumping 109 millimetres of rain in Saint John alone.
Public Safety Minister John Foran says he realizes a number of residents were affected by flooding but damages for the most part were restricted to basements.
Damage caused by sewer backup is an insurable loss and not covered by provincial and federal assistance programs.
Foran says anyone affected by flooding should contact their insurance company.
