DARTMOUTH, N.S. - A Halifax cab driver managed to disarm and subdue a customer early Monday after the 28-year-old man threatened him with a shotgun.
RCMP say the driver had picked up the fare in Dartmouth and was taking him to Cole Harbour in the early hours of the morning.
When the cab driver told the passenger he was having trouble finding the address, the passenger pulled out a sawed-off shotgun from under his jacket and demanded money from the driver.
The cabbie fought with the man, grabbing the shotgun and striking him over the head.
Police say the cab driver was able to subdue the passenger until police arrived to arrest him.
They took the suspect to hospital, where he was treated for injuries sustained in the fight with the cab driver.
