PARRSBORO - Cat lovers will be excited to know that the Lucky Paws cat club will be hosting the fourth annual cat show in Parrsboro on Saturday, Sept. 12 at the Lions Arena.
Heather MacDougall, Lucky Paws club member, says it's the 14th show the club has put on but only the fourth in Parrsboro.
"I became involved with cat shows back in 1976 when I bought my first pure bred Persian," MacDougall said.
"There will be many varieties of breeds that will participate in the show such as Persians, Devon Rex, British Shorthair, Abysinnians, Bengals, and others as well as a Household pet category," the club member said.
There is an anticipated 80 cats from all over North America to attend the show along with vendors such as the Lucky Paws club, local artist Arlene Collins, Chickadee Cat Club and Royal Canin (cat food company) along with others will have booths set up.
In addition there will also be raffle tables set up for people to purchase tickets on items that have been donated to the event.
"We are also looking for volunteers to come help set up on Sunday, Sept. 6 at 10 a.m.," MacDougall said.
There are five judges for the event; two from Canada and three from the U.S. who will judge each cat and rate them then at the end of the day the totals will be tallied with the following categories; adults (cats that are purebred breeders), alter (purebreds that have been spayed or neutered), household pets and kittens from four months to eight months.
MacDougall said this event has been well attended in the past and hopes that it will continue.
There will be a photographer at the cat show who will take photos of the cat if the owners wish, along with the canteen that will be operated by the Lions Club.
The cat show begins at 9 a.m. and will run through until 5 p.m. on Sept. 12.
