CHARLOTTETOWN - A full-day public kindergarten program will be launched in the P.E.I. school system beginning in September of 2010.
Monday's announcement followed the release of a report by the province's public kindergarten commissioner.
The government has approved the recommendation that kindergarten will be a mandatory program for the full school year.
Existing kindergarten teachers will be considered first for the new teaching positions.
Each teacher will have a maximum of 15 students.
