YARMOUTH, N.S. - A dead man discovered Sunday in a lake by a woman out for an evening walk was likely murdered, RCMP believe.
"We have recovered the body of a white male between 30 and 40 years old," Sgt. Michel LaCroix of Yarmouth rural RCMP said Monday.
The identity of the dead man wasn't known. The remains were found in the narrow part of Eel Lake where there's a small bridge.
The lake is located in rural Yarmouth County.
No one has been reported missing locally and police are searching farther afield for missing persons.
LaCroix said the body had likely been there for a day or two.
The woman who made the grisly discovery was walking a couple of kilometres from her home when she came to the bridge around 7 p.m. and saw the body.
She ran to the closest house and asked them to call 911.
