The gardening season in Nova Scotia is now in full swing, gardening centres are busy and many folks are spending their evenings and weekends in the dirt. With shovels in hand, people are busy planting flowers, vegetables and other unique plants to help make their yards look fantastic. There is something about being out in the fresh air, surrounded by flowers and plants that can be extremely therapeutic. It can even help to eliminate stress.
For someone new to gardening, there are several resources that can help. Your local gardening centre can help you find just the right soils, fertilizers and plants. So why not make a day of it and explore opportunities to help create a beautiful garden and a happier you?
If you are looking for ideas to make your garden beautiful, there are gardens in all shapes and sizes throughout Central Nova Scotia. You can visit the largest rock garden in the Maritimes or a butterfly garden at the Nova Scotia Agriculture College near Truro or you can experience a heritage garden at an area museum - the Wallace and Area Museum for example.
The Floral Menagerie in Shubenacadie, NS invites gardeners to wander down wooden paths to observe a wide variety of hostas and ferns planted.
