TRURO - An Atlantic Canadian magazine is planning to open a namesake restaurant at the Truro Power Centre.
"We're working towards that, said Marsh Pond, vice-president of Marketing Hospitality for the Halifax-based company Pacrim Hospitality.
Pacrim serves as a management company for a number of major hotel chains including Super 8, which has a hotel in the Power Centre.
The Truro restaurant is to be branded under license from Saltscapes magazine and Pond said plans are to have the facility in operation by early next year.
"This is a first," she said, of the Saltscapes endeavour. "We
are looking at a branding that will be built on the design and brand (of Saltscapes)."
While the design is still being determined, Pond said the restaurant is to be created in a manner in keeping with the warm Atlantic Canada personality presented in the Saltscapes magazine.
"This isn't a fine dining dining room," she said. "It will be more of a casual (setting). This will be for a little bit of everybody."
The restaurant is to be located in the building that originally housed Mugsy McCeol's and the Keltic microbrewy and later the Bear and Bull restaurant.
Pond said the location was chosen because of Pacrim's "long-standing and very progressive" association with the Millbrook First Nations band through its lease for the Super 8 Hotel and because it is situated beside a major Nova Scotia highway.
