Nova Scotia Community College puts on Resource Expo in AmherstAMHERST-Business students at the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) in Amherst put on an event Wednesday to show students the job opportunities available in Cumberland County.
The Resource Expo, Students in Motion, has business representatives from around Cumberland County talk to the students and give them an understanding on what they can do to get a job after they've finished schooling.
This is the third year NSCC has had the expo. It gives the students an opportunity to ask questions, Business student Kevin Tibbo said. Students are also able to have individual time with the business representatives of their choice.
"It's all about Network," Tibbo said.
The expo is only for the business students and faculty and is a chance for the business representatives and business students to connect.
It's a chance to show the employers what skills are learned at NSCC, student Pearl Richardson said. Employment opportunities are available in Cumberland County.
Personality skills are learned in the business program at NSCC and employers have a chance to see that, Tibbo said. There seems to be a support from the community businesses to have the expo.
"We certainly hope to grow," Tibbo said.
The expo will be held at the NSCC campus in Amherst each year, unless space is an issue in which case it could move to the Springhill campus.
"We wouldn't want to get too big too fast," Richardson said.
