MILLBROOK - Travellers are once more
being asked to vote for their favourite public restroom.
Last year, the restrooms at the Glooscap Heritage Centre earned the travelling public's "Powder Room Seal of Approval, one of only 10 public facilities out of more than 450 assessed across the country to win the distinction.
"Quite a few visitors stopped by to check out our restrooms because they had heard about us in the news," said Crystal Dorey, the centre's Aboriginal Interpretive Program co-ordinator. "Since then, we've added some decorative touches, like photos of Nova Scotia. Of course, we've also continued to keep the facilities clean for our visitors."
Powder Room is a program for individuals with overactive bladder - a condition affecting 12 to 18 per cent of Canadians. The contest to rate public restrooms is part of the group's efforts to raise awareness about the condition of overactive bladder.
In an attempt at having the most comprehensive 'powder room' resource on the web, contest participants are asked to log on to the website to add, rate and comment on public restrooms across the country. A new category has also been added this year - the Powder Room fan favourite will be awarded to the restroom that receives the highest number of votes overall.
