CHARLOTTETOWN A news report says 11 small schools on P.E.I. are slated for closure in a move expected to save the Eastern School District about $2 million a year.

The Charlottetown Guardian reports the plan will be released officially on Wednesday by the school district.

The school board plan is expected to mirror a report released in 1996, advocating the closure of about eight small schools.
