CHARLOTTETOWN Members of the Prince Edward Island legislature are getting a pay raise.

Effective next April 1, members of the legislative assembly will see their pay rise by 2.5 per cent.

That means an extra $3,411 for Liberal Premier Robert Ghiz, whose annual salary will rise to $136,438.

Cabinet ministers and the leader of the Opposition will receive an additional $2,776 bringing their annual salaries to $111,032.

The average MLA will earn $65,344 annually, an increase of $1,633.
