SACKVILLE, N.B. Always enjoying the view as she drove by, East Coast singer-songwriter Damhnait Doyle will finally get a chance to experience Sackville.
Ive been through a couple of times, but I think it was mostly to the Tim Hortons, Doyle said from Halifax on a day off from touring Atlantic Canada with a fellow East Coast musician.
The show Saturday is going to be awesome. Its always exciting to play somewhere I've never played before.
Brunton Auditorium will play host to Doyles performance Saturday evening, with doors opening at 8 p.m., and the show starting at 9 p.m.
Doyle released her fourth solo album, Lights Down Low, earlier this year and will perform some of her favourites Saturday night.
Lights Down Low isnt like an in-your-face record when you put it on, said Doyle. Its really one of those records that is a great listen. When I made it, I was envisioning it for relaxing dinner parties or baths, so peoples reactions to it have been very positive."
While Lights Down Low is her latest solo album, Doyle has performed and recorded as a member of Shaye, a trio that also included Tara MacLean and Kim Stockwood.
When (MacLean and Stockwood) were having kids, I had a lot of downtime, so I made this record, she said of the album that covers from Bob Marley to Cheap Trick.
It wasnt a hard decision to make it was a natural extension of what I already had been doing.
Along with her favourites from Lights Down Low, Doyle will perform some older solo songs, as well as a couple of songs from her Shaye days.
