ST. JOHNS, N.L. The program director at a laboratory in Newfoundland and Labrador that was at the centre of a public inquiry into inaccurate breast cancer tests is no longer employed by the health authority in the St. Johns area.

The St. Johns Telegram reported Wednesday the Eastern Health authority confirmed that Terry Gulliver was fired.

Gulliver, a long-time lab technologist and administrator, was a key witness in the inquiry into how hundreds of patients received the wrong results on their hormone receptor tests.

The inquiry wrapped up last week.

Meantime, Eastern Health would not discuss specifics surrounding the departure of Gulliver.

Dr. Oscar Howell, vice-president of medical services, said Wednesday the fact Gulliver is no longer with Eastern Health isnt about the past, but about the future.

Its not satisfactory to stand still, Howell said.

Howell said there are currently no plans to let anyone else go.
