SYDNEY, N.S. - Cape Breton fiddler Ashley MacIsaac is auctioning off 50 per cent of all his future earnings on EBay, with a starting bid at C$1.5 million, and he already has one bidder.
The bidder, whose details are not shown on the site, met the starting bid for MacIsaac's future earnings Monday afternoon.
According to EBay, the current bidder is listed as having a 98 per cent positive feedback score for transactions and has zero bid retractions.
The online sale of MacIsaac's future earnings includes all profits from albums, concerts, publishing, movies, DVDs, and any entertainment-related incomes.
MacIsaac has drawn attention to himself through various publicity stunts, including a 1997 appearance on the Late Show with Conan O'Brien, when during one of his kick steps, MacIsaac's kilt lifted high enough to expose his genitals.
In March 2006, MacIsaac declared himself a candidate for the leadership of the federal Liberals, but later that year decided to pull out. In 2007, he married his boyfriend on stage during an East Coast Music Awards Cape Breton showcase.
