Hundreds of Cumberland County residents were without power this morning due to high winds knocking trees onto power lines.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY Hundreds of Cumberland County residents were without power this morning due to high winds knocking trees onto power lines.

"All the outages in the area this morning were related to trees on lines," said Nova Scotia Power spokesperson Glennie Langille. "What happened overnight is we had some wind, and the combination of some high winds and trees had caused some scattered outages across the province."

Port Howe, Linden, Northport, Tidnish, Old Halifax Road, MacDonald Road, Leicester, and surrounding areas experienced power failures after 8 a.m. and it was restored in all locations before noon. Most of the outages were less than two hours in duration.
