Charges are pending against a 17-year-old Grade 11 student at Amherst Regional High School after several students reported seeing him with a gun on school property.

Charges are pending against a 17-year-old Grade 11 student at Amherst Regional High School after several students reported seeing him with a gun on school property.

The student, who can't be named under the youth criminal justice act, was apprehended at the school by Amherst Police.

The gun turned out to be a low velocity air pistol. The student surrendered the weapon without incident. There were no injuries and the gun was not discharged.
