Theres nothing like a little laughter with your dessert.

Thats been the recipe for success for the Emmanuel United Church board of stewards annual dessert entertainment night, which will take place this year at the church on the night of Saturday, April 28.

We have a lot of fun with it, said Roger White, who serves as MC for the event with his friend Perry White. If you cant laugh on this evening, then you cant laugh at all.

Various entertainers have performed at the event over the past few years, including Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Sonny and Cher, Johnny Cash and June Carter-Cash, Elvis Presley and even Santa Claus. White was tight-lipped about the duo scheduled to appear this year, but he did confirm that Bill Drysdale and Darlene Ripley have been added to the show.

The event is a fundraiser for the church, and has become quite popular, according to White, who said ticket sales have gone quite well this year. Less than 20 remain, but can be purchased by calling him at 664-4764.

Its a really great time, and well keep doing it as long as people keep coming and laughing, he said. Theres a lot of bad stuff in this world, and I think if we can make people forget it for two and a half hours then were doing our job.
