MacKenzie has two goals for East Hants

SPRINGHILL Trevor MacKenzie has two goals and Patrick Sweeney has three points as the East Hants Penguins lead the Cumberland County Cool Blues 4-1 after two periods in Don Johnson Cup action at the Richard Calder Arena.

Sweeney has a goal and three assists while Andy Chase has a goal and an assist for the Nova Scotia champion Penguins, who led 2-0 after one period.

Ryan Reynolds has the lone goal for Cumberland County with Hughie McGuish and Matthew Noiles adding assists.

The Blues are outshooting the Penguins 25-20 but Matt Bracegirdle has been outduelling Patrick O'Brien between the pipes.

The tournament resumes Wednesday with games at 12:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. featuring the Blues and Madawaska, N.B.

The opening ceremonies are set for 7:30 p.m.
